Myers Park 12's Win District 3

The Myers Park Trinity LL 12-year-old All-Star team has won the District 3 Tournament and will be heading to the NC State Tournament. After a 1-run victory over Dilworth in the opening round of the tournament, Myers Park had a bye on day 2, followed by a convincing 12-2 win over Lake Norman to clinch the district championship.

The final game featured some quality pitching by Pres Cavenaugh (3 innings, no runs) and Henry Merchant (2 innings, 2 runs) and a 9-run 1st inning for MP on several hits, walks and errors. The game ended in style with a 3-run walk-off HR by Hayden Malchesky in the 5th inning to seal the 10-run victory.

The Little League Class of 2013 has now won its 3rd District 3 title and 4th banner overall. They will play in the state tournament for the 2nd straight year. This year it is being hosted by MPTLL and begins this Saturday, July 20th. Myers Park will face last year's 11-year-old state champion, Bull City, in round 1 on Saturday at 3:00. The tournament will use a double-elimination format.
