Fall Baseball, Softball and T-Ball Registration

Online registration remains open until August 23rd for the 2014 Fall Season at Myers Park Trinity. This season we will have T-Ball for 5-6 year old boys and girls, Machine Pitch baseball for 7-8 year old boys, Player Pitch baseball for 9-10 year old and 11-12 year old boys, and Softball for 8U, 10U, 12U and 16U girls. MP Challenge Registration (8-12 Year old Baseball / Softball)
The Myers Park Trinity Challenge Baseball and Softball Program is designed for players who want to experience extra baseball or softball in a competitive “tournament” environment. The Challenge Program addresses the needs of those athletes who possess above average baseball or softball skills, and provides an opportunity for them to play at the highest level for their age group.  If you are interested in having your child considered for one of the Myers Park Trinity baseball or softball challenge teams, please send an email to challenge@mptll.org. Challenge tryout dates and times have not been set at this time, but they will be communicated as soon as they become available.  Parents that express an interest will receive an email approximately one week before tryouts with date, time, and field information for their specific age group’s tryout.  Click here to learn more about the Myers Park Trinity Baseball and Softball Challenge Program.

Best of MPTLL #3: Versatility

Myers Park Trinity Little League is a multifaceted youth sports organization. At its heart, it is a recreational baseball and softball league, open to all players regardless of their individual talent level. From the most experienced ballplayer to the beginner playing for the first time, there is a place for everyone in our regular season. The less experienced players may participate in one of the league's instructional divisions, while the more experienced ones may enjoy a more competitive division, complete with standings, tournaments and a rich history. Our regular recreational season is a quality league unto itself. But we are more than a "rec league."

During the summer months, Myers Park Trinity places an emphasis on the All-Star season. Our tournament teams have a long history of success, including a steady string of championship banners earned in recent years. In the last two years alone, Myers Park has won NC State Baseball Championships in each of the 10, 11 and 12-year-old age groups. But we are more than an All-Star program.

In the spring and fall seasons, our Challenge program provides an additional baseball experience and an alternative to travel ball, with a tournament schedule and an increasing emphasis on instruction and talent development, led by the new MP Academy. But there is still much more to Myers Park Trinity.

We are a softball program made up of competitive girls teams playing all over Mecklenburg County. We are a non-profit community organization, providing scholarships each season to over a hundred less-fortunate kids that would not otherwise be able to participate. We are a family of volunteers, not only maintaining a great league and outstanding facilities, but also building lifelong friendships and helping each other out when there is a need.

Such versatility by a youth sports organization is rare. Many leagues are unable to provide all of these opportunities for their families. They may exist primarily as a recreational league, and lose players wanting a more competitive experience. Or they may focus more on their Challenge or All Star programs, at the expense of their regular season league. But Myers Park Trinity is able to do both and serve the community at the same time. It is a complex task, and we are faced with more challenges each year. But the league is committed to making improvements in all areas every season so that we may continue the upward trend that began generations ago.

The Challenge of Being a Challenge Parent

In case you missed it in Sunday's Charlotte Observer, MPTLL parent Tracy Curtis weighs the joys and sorrows of being a challenge baseball parent. Very funny (and honest) stuff. And certainly the first ever reference to "GH1" in the Observer. Enjoy.

MP Cougars Win on Sunday

The 9U Myers Park Cougars won their Sunday Challenge tournament in Matthews with a couple of big wins. The team beat Steele Creek 24-7 and host team MARA 15-5 with solid pitching and defense, and impressive hitting. They are coached by William Bray, Paxton Hollar, Tom Giardi and Ryan Smith. Congrats to the Cougars and best of luck in the future.

Successful Challenge Weekend for Myers Park

Myers Park Trinity won three challenge tournaments this past weekend and finished 2nd in three others. It was an outstanding showing for our teams, especially the 10U Tigers, 9U Warriors and 8U Cougars (left), who all won their tournaments. Congratulations to those teams. If you are registered for Challenge Baseball this season, tryouts for ages 8-12 (as of April 30) are this coming weekend. Please review the schedule below.

9U – Saturday, March 5^th at 8:30am on Wade Field

10U – Sunday, March 6^th at 1:00pm on Wade Field

11U – Saturday, March 5^th at 8:30am on Founders Field

12U  - Friday, March 4^th at 5:30pm on New Field

Challenge Program Updates for 2011

Myers Park Trinity has made some changes regarding its Challenge Program for 2011. The Challenge Program is an opportunity for those players and families desiring additional tournament baseball experience during the regular MPTLL season.

This year parents will be asked to sign up for Challenge Ball as part of the normal league registration process. Remember that the Challenge Program is in addition to the regular spring season (Major League, National League, American League, etc.), so you will need to sign up for both if your child wants to try out for Challenge. And keep in mind that while all players will be placed on a regular season team, not everyone will be selected for a Challenge team.
